Information sharing for more efficient network utilization and management

As Internet traffic has grown and changed, Google and other content and application providers have worked cooperatively with Internet service providers (ISPs) so that services can be delivered quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively. For example, rather than content having to traverse a long distance and many different networks to reach an Internet access provider’s network, a content provider might store (cache) the data close by and interconnect (‘peer’) directly with the access provider. Google has invested billions of dollars in the network and infrastructure necessary to bring our services as close to your Internet access provider’s front door as possible, for free – which both reduces ISPs’ costs and improves the user experience.

Content and application providers can also tune their services for congested and/or lower bandwidth environments. For instance, YouTube detects how smoothly a video is playing and adjusts the quality to account for temporary fluctuations in bandwidth or congestion. In the Google Video Quality Report, we transparently reveal the speeds YouTube is experiencing on different networks.

As more of Internet traffic becomes encrypted, some network operators have expressed concern about the effect encryption might have on their ability to manage their networks. We don’t think there has to be a trade-off here – there are ways to do effective network management of encrypted traffic today, and, through further cooperation between content and application providers and ISPs, we believe this could be made easier while still respecting encryption.

To spur discussion and collaboration on this front, we recently submitted a paper to a workshop organized by the Internet Architecture Board outlining some ideas. We advocate for a model where ISPs selectively share network state to content and applications providers, enabling them to adapt to available network resources.

For example, we recently proposed to the Internet Engineering Task Force the concept of Throughput Guidance (TG), whereby mobile network operators could share information about the throughput of a radio downlink. Preliminary field tests in a production LTE network showed that TG reduces YouTube join latency, defined as the amount of time until the video starts playing, by 8% on average, rebuffering time by 20% on average, and rebuffer count by 2% on average. In addition to improving quality of experience for users, this mechanism improves the utilization of providers’ networks. Encryption of traffic would have no impact on the efficacy of this approach; it works equally well with encrypted and unencrypted traffic.

Throughput Guidance is one possible solution and many questions remain unanswered. It’s still relatively early days in our exploration of this and the other measures in our short paper, and we’re looking forward to getting feedback and collaborating with network operators and others.

There are different capabilities and functions loaded into these programs. There are some that are accessible online and others that may be loaded on computer. In general, they are applied for the purpose of budgeting, photo and document management, bidding, client communication, scheduling, team collaborations, reports and estimating. Certain types may come with customer support, limited-time warranties and similar benefits.

This type of program is designed to help people save money and time. It can be beneficial at keeping project information organized and up-to-date. It also simplifies managing the various accounts, clients and orders within a company. Not all companies need or utilize this technology, but there are many who prefer it.

People who will be using this should know how to do so in the correct manner. Most are meant to be simple and easy to operate. Nonetheless, training might be necessary and recommended, especially when more than one employee will be accessing the software. Regardless of how well designed this kind of product is, improper use of it can make it less effective. Research of available products is recommended to all potential consumers. Keep in mind what you need and want in this type of product. Then, look at what is available and see what fits in your budget, meets your needs and is most convenient. Look over reviews by consumers to get an idea of how the product may function. These programs may be an investment, but they are not mandatory for management in this industry.

While shopping around, make note of five main things: pricing, support, deployment, functionality and usability. These are all important components when it comes to finding a product that works for your needs. Those involved in mechanical, electrical and plumbing construction may find this type of program particularly beneficial.

No single product works well for all. Results will differ. Therefore, it is essential that a user learns the ins and outs of what they have. Follow guidelines and instructions provided by the manufacturer so that the product is used as it was intended. Furthermore, companies may decide to keep records of all project information in a tangible format as well. This ensures that even if there is a breech in security or the software malfunctions, important information is not entirely lost.

For some professionals, construction management software is an essential when it comes to management of projects, clients, employees and more. These are available through numerous retailers, at different costs. Keep in mind the reviews and product functionality when deciding on a software.

An Insight On Construction Management Software

By Angel Dudley

Property management refers to overseeing operation of real estate or any assets owned by individuals or companies. There is need to ensure that any physical or intangible asset is safe and secure. The activity of managing the assets needs a person who is well experienced. This person is the construction management software manager and they ensure that every aspect of the asset is well taken care of.

It can be equivalent like business management as all of them from some perspective appear to be one and the same thing; assets. Some of the roles of these managers are controlling of the property and organization. In some cases however it needs the owner of the asset to administer their own belongings without requiring the work of a professional.

Common things they do in managing the asset include taking inventory, maintenance and controlling. Some of the asset managers may be having entrepreneurial minds and culture and therefore they will be able to invest in the asset they are managing and able to make proceeds for their owners.

Taking of inventory is one important thing. It should be done by the asset manager if only they have the know-how otherwise it should be done by an expert in this field; inventory clerk. Inventory clerks have the skills on having inventory taken within the shortest time possible and usually they have the experience to enable them know the areas they will need to capture details and also make the best descriptions of the items.

Asset managers need to do maintenance of the asset. They are supposed to pay out any expenses and receive any revenues which they account for as will be required by their owners of the asset. Assets like buildings depreciate at a very high rate for example fading of paint on the walls and scratches on the wall and floor surfaces. The manager therefore needs to repair such and leave the building as good as new.

However the inventory taken and the report are very useful in getting the services of service companies. For instance a banking institution will be able to grant you a loan if only you show them you are able to pay that loan. The manager or the owner as they may agree will be able to use the inventory to have the accurate value of the asset and use that as collateral to obtain a loan. Also the same case applies to insurers who will insist on the document before either giving you a cover or settling your claim.

As property management, the manager is supposed to have the estate or asset maintained. This involves doing repairs on waste parts for example fallen and weak fences of a land can be replaced. They are also required to pay off for nay expenses incurred in maintaining the asset and also receive any revenues generated.

The inventory report could be used in getting services from service institutions. Also it will be important in the case of letting where the building for example may be damaged by the tenant. Construction management software is therefore a good thing to do for those who want to make best out of their assets.
